The sign on the door says they open at 7am. At 7:21am, the neon "OPEN" sign blazed with light.
Yet the doors were locked and the restaurant was clearly not open.
I called the hotline and they were very friendly and agreed to send me some coupons as consolation. That was nice, but I still had to do without breakfast.

Old Glory Barbershop and Tattoo
Categories: Barbers, Tattoo, Tobacco Shops

I usually go to Supercuts. But I wanted to try something slightly more classy to see if there's an appreciable difference. So when I needed a haircut, based on what I had read on Yelp, I decided to go to Old Glory. I got there before they opened on Saturday morning, so I was the first customer of the day.
As a barber by the name of Chuck was cutting my hair, I pondered whether it was a good or bad thing to come in first thing in the morning. I mean, maybe the barbers should warm up, or loosen up a bit before touching my hair.
But it worked out well. I'm happy with the haircut. Chuck was fast and cheerful, and the price was decent. Still not sure if it's worth the extra ten bucks over Supercuts if you're getting a basic haircut, but I haven't any complaints.

EDIT: Drastically increased the rating, because I went back at a decent time and the Cheese Enchilada plate was really wonderful. I still don't recommend the taquitos, and especially not at 6am.
ORIGINAL:
Disclaimer, I went here at 6am. Maybe it's better at a normal hour. I ordered the guacamole taquitos, and the guacamole is extremely sub-optimal, it's too liquidy, creamy, and vinegary.
I got my taquitos almost instantly, even at 6am, which leads me to believe they were sitting around for a while.
They were a decent breakfast, but not terribly mouthwatering.

I and my royal entourage felt like dining in regal style, just like the descendents of Charlemagne. Lo and behold, we immediately found Louis III Burger. We ordered several items and they were all good. The Double Louis Burger With Cheese is my favorite. Quite a lot of flavor and density packed into a single burger. The onion rings and the chicken salad burrito were quite good as well. They have a really weird ATM device, where you have to do all the work. I felt like the machine should be paying ME the $1.75 fee.
Until yesterday, I lived my life under the impression that all of Orange County had more parking than they knew what to do with. Not Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is where the OC hides all of its traffic. Good hell, was it a pain getting in and out of this place on a Sunday afternoon.
Came here for the Rick Griffin show, and was suitably impressed. I didn't explore the whole gallery, but it's unclear whether they even have a permanent collection. All the pieces in the exhibition were displayed in good locations, easily visible, except for one piece that was confusingly placed way up high. WTF.

The downsides mentioned by other reviewers definitely do apply: Slow service, unattractive dining area, and it's hot inside. Their outdoor tables are very nice, though.
And the food is really good. They sell chicken, beef shawarma, falafel, pita, hummus. Your standard selection of Mediterranean food, but they make it really well. It's quite flavorful. If you don't like garlic, this probably isn't the place for you.
If none of those caveats apply to you, check this place out immediately. The food is so wonderful.

Amazing pupusas and amazing (spicy) curtido. The Ensalada drink is also amazing, but it had a lot of seeds in it... more later. Worth checking out. A salvadorean restaurant in Uptown Whittier.

Vintage Arcade Superstore
Category: Videos and Video Game Rental
My friends and I walked into this mysterious glorious warehouse filled with relics from our childhoods. Arcade machines: Star Wars, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Space Wars! Pinball Machines, including one called "Wizard" featuring Roger Daltrey of The Who.
For the first couple minutes there was no sign of human habitation, as we tread among the electronic forest. Finally, a diminutive salesman came out and offered to let us play wahtever we wanted.
I don't know if I will ever have the opportunity to purchase an arcade machine, but this store offers that opportunity, along with nostalgia up to here.

The Original Rinaldis
Category: Sandwiches
Neighborhood: El Segundo
Quite probably the best sandwich restaurant I've ever experienced. They have a huge variety of selections, many of which are really tasty and quirky. And I love the creative sandwich names: (e.g. Genu-Flex, Fatboy, The Mailman, etc)! And I really hope their Ironman sandwich is named after the Black Sabbath song because that would just be cool.
Edit: Also note that the sandwiches are big! The small one is usually sufficient unless you want leftovers.
If you work in El Segundo (This means you, Celeretu!), this is THE lunch spot. But it gets crowded during traditional lunch time.
A good one to start with is the Dragon Special. Get out your broadsword and Onyxia Scale Cloak, and dig in!

Be careful of the maelstrom of clutter surrounding you, though. I set down my current pair of glasses and almost didn't find them again.
The man who runs this shop is a charming and helpful fellow (whose name is not actually "Smith"). He's more organized than he looks; I was afraid he would lose my prescription, but he conducted the whole deal utterly professionally, and mailed my glasses to me in California, charging me only for postage.
